Key Modules: Web Surveys & Patient Registries

Using a Web Survey

One of the latest additions to the Clinical Study-Portal is a Web Survey module. This allows to collect data from any of the Portal users, like Trial subjects, in a straightforward and easy-to-use method.

Clinical Investigator Portal Survey example

A typical example of this would be a trial where the Sponsor wants to collect patient Quality of Life data on a daily basis. Patients could be allowed access to the Portal, and, upon login, will automatically be forwarded to the Survey page and be able to enter the relevant information. This could even be extended by sending an automated reminder in case the daily rating was skipped.
More details and a good example on how the Portal can be used to collect patient data by using a web survey can be found in this Client Case on a Patient Web Survey.

Why use the Portal Survey and not a general web-Survey?

The major difference between the two is that in the Clinical Study Portal, the Survey can only be accessed after the user had logged in. And from that point on, the user is known. He or she is in a secured environment and so it is perfectly safe to allow the patient (viewing) access to his previous scores. Also, there is no need to enter a Subject ID, as the ID is already recorded ‘behind the scene’.
And as participating trial patients are ‘linked’ to their Clinical Investigator, any patient data can be automatically made accessible to their Physician.
