Research Communities or Networks

Using Clinical Study-Portal for a Community of Researchers

The different Portal modules, combined with its flexibility, makes our Portal into an ideal web-tool for creating and maintaining your own Research Network. If you are responsible for supporting a community of Clinical Investigators interested in a specific area of research, you can fully configure the Portal to your own requirements. Let’s take a closer look and see how this would work for say a group of Diabetes Researchers.

User Management

If you are responsible for maintaining a network of Diabetes researcher, you probably don’t want everybody to be able to access your content. The Portal has the ability for any interested person to apply for Registration (this is one of many options which can be configured). Any interested researcher can supply his/her user details.

Once the ‘Send’ button is pressed, a User record will be created and the Portal Administrator(s) will be notified that they need to review the request and grant the User access. As soon as the User has been granted access, they will receive an email or SMS message with their account details. And will be able to access the secured content of the Portal.

Investigator Profiles

As explained on our Clinical Investigator Profile page, you will be able to design a Profile page for each of your Investigators holding any relevant item. The Portal has a built-in tool to allow you to create the Profile section yourself.
This Profile section is an ideal format for other Investigators to get in touch with colleagues and get more background information on them. You can include Documents, Images, email address, website reference or Google map location in your Profile design. And if they already have a Linkedin profile, you can include that just as easy in your Profile page.

“Marketing” your Clinical Investigators

Assuming that at least part of your Clinical Investigators are interested in participating in clinical trials, you could decide to ‘publish’ a summary of your Profile information on a Public website. The Clinical Study-Portal allows to define one of your Projects as ‘Public’ project, meaning that all of the content of the ‘public’ Project will be used to create a public website. That is, a website which is accessible for everybody without need to have user account.
Ideally, you could combine this with a Google Adwords campagn, in order to attract more users interested in say ‘Diabetes research’ towards your public website.

Other Modules

Needless to say that you can use any of the other modules, like the Documents module or the Blog module, to share information with any of your registered users.

Patient Participation

Study Portal is looking for co-design partners who want to enhance Patient participation in a Clinical Trial, like:

  • - use online tools for patient communication during a study
  • - use a Patient forum on study related issues
  • - increase Patient accrual through online information access
  • - reduce Patient dropout through online study feedback
